Dan Degen, OTR/L, CHT is an extraordinary therapist who dedicates his career to working with individuals suffering from illness and injury affecting the upper-extremity complex.
Dan is a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).  As a nationally registered and NYS licensed Occupational Therapist, Dan worked to advance his training in upper-extremity rehabilitation to obtain his CHT certification.  In the health-care field, this is a well-respected credential as this certification requires extensive training; a minimum of 5 years and 3000 hours of direct hands-on experience, and the successful passing of a difficult international examination which many fail. 
Dan graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1997 with a degree in Occupational Therapy.  He began his career at the well-known Hand Center of Western New York where he received his hands-on training and mentorship from 8 Certified Hand Therapists.  At the Hand Center Dan also had the privilege of working closely with 5 prominent hand surgeons and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2002.  As a specialist, Dan now mentors many therapists and therapy students to help improve the care being provided in our community.
Dan moved to Rochester, NY in 2000 and now lives in Webster, NY with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters.  In his spare time, Dan enjoys exercising, traveling, spending time with his family, and continuing to expand his knowledge of hand therapy.
Dan’s extensive therapy experience includes basic injuries, such as carpel tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, and common fractures to complex traumatic injuries including gunshot wounds, crush injuries, lacerations, and amputations.
