Patient perspectives following revision shoulder arthroplasty
This past week I was pleased to see 2 patients in whom I previously performed reverse shoulder arthroplasty as a revision for painful hemiarthroplasty.
They were kind enough to share their perspectives about the surgery and how they are doing. I have provided links below for those interested in understanding the potential benefit of revision surgery should you currently have a painful shoulder after a previous replacement--or have a friend or loved one who does. RG had a failed hemiarthroplasty after a fracture. His pre- and postoperative videos can be found at this link: http://www.rearmyourself.com/article...after-fracture DA shares his perspective 6 weeks after revision for glenoid wear. He originally had a hemiarthroplasty rather than a total, and I revised him to a reverse because of the extent of the glenoid wear and my concern about the strength of his cuff musculature. His video (pt DA) can be found at this link: http://www.rearmyourself.com/article...r-glenoid-wear |
